Hello, so my jaw has been locking for a few weeks now and i don’t understand why because I don’t grind my teeth or even clench them. When I go to open my mouth I can only get a certain amount open before I am in really bad pain and I seem to have no other jaw problems according to my dentist and doctor so I’m not sure what’s wrong?

It seems my entire family has a jaw issue that I never learned of until now- after doing Invisalign and everything, so my teeth appear aligned but the jaw is nevertheless uneven. I’m meeting with the same orthodontist who did my Invisalign to discover what’s happening… wish me luck😅

I’m so depressed. A doctor I have seen at Hospital said that surgery won’t fix my TMJ and it’s only physio. I’m so sick of physio!! I feel like a walking physio therapy worksheet!

This video is much appreciated. I'm an M.D. in Atlanta and this technique has helped me with my severe pterygoid tightness. It really hurts badly when I first do this, so I try to breathe deeply and relax (if possible) to get those angry muscles to 'give.' It is heaven afterwards when they do.

Thank you so much for this video! I had tongue-tie surgery as a kid, but still deal with sleep apnea, TMJ pain which aggravates chronic migraines, and chronic fatigue. I'm hoping trying out some of these exercises and seeing a myofunctional therapist will help!

I will continue to use these techniques. I had mastoid surgery as a child. Now occasionally this muscle goes into a spasm or seizure and causes great pain that lasts a couple of minutes. They have prescribed muscle relaxers but they make me sleepy. Hope this helps me.

One of the tricks I've used to determine if it's a tooth or TMJ is 1) tapping the tooth from the size. If it has pain, there's usually a crack at the root tip. 2) I use the back of my electric tooth brush on the tooth's top like I'm brushing it. This isn't a perfect diagnostic tool to diagnose a crack, but every tooth I've had a crack in reacted to this... but not every tooth that's reacted was for sure cracked. Hope that makes sense. Cracked tooth syndrome is a real thing & it's super annoying!!

What are your thoughts on postural restoration institute and the relation between TMJ and postural compensations?

I was surprised you did not mention Squigle brand at all. Can you check it out and see if you think it's ingredients are good? We switched to it years ago due to my SLS allergy that developed and my teeth and mouth seem healthier overall. The dentists we've been to have always made comments about how good my oral hygiene is and how clean my teeth are. Cleaning appointments are ridiculously fast for me these days.

Can you get teeth pain or discomfort from sinus pressure from congestion? I've def had pain radiate from my TMJ joint.

I used to rest my tongue on the lower side of teeth ,now when I got information about this through your video, I'm trying myself to correct my posture. But I feel little sensitivity in my teeth , is it okay ? Please reply. I actually cannot visit any doctors too 😅

I have disc displacement without reduction. I got an ARA appliance in October 2023. My range of motion increased from 20-28, then to 32 max with months of PT. However it seems Im at a standstill with progress. Have you seen this typically and is there anything I can do to further increase my ROM?

my C1/C2 is always moving even after adjustment. It locks up after 1/2 weeks, .. how can neuromuscular help me? At what point does someone just go for joint replacement surgery?

Hello ma'am My jaw was producing popping sound when i tried to open for few days this before But now there is no popping sound But i feel i can't open my mouth full as before. I'm following your videos and exercises. It has helped me to open my mouth wider from 1 finger to 3 fingers now! Thank you for that! But if i try to open it wider than that I feel something is blocking my mouth from opening fully. Can it be resolved from self treatment and exercise? Is it normal? I'm extremely worried about it

Pressing on the muscle gives me the nerve pain/burning in my teeth… what does that mean?

How on earth do we stop the tight muscles? I find myself having extreme tension 24:7 over the slightest trigger. The tension then sets off aching/burning in my teeth. I don’t know how to stop clenching. If I stop clenching will the muscles go back to normal? Or will I have to actually treat the muscles ? People say once muscles have knots they won’t go back to normal unless you treat them, or can jaw muscles just go back to normal if your control the clenching? Also, can the tight muscles set off clenching even more? This is a nightmare. I feel so alone because no dr ever knows what to do

This is my story to a T, I keep telling drs it’s my jaw but they won’t listen, I paid a lot of money to see a maxofacial and he did a panoramic X-ray and said jaw joint is fine. Neuro said it’s HC, I’ve tried home measures and nothing works. I’m just about to start a trial of idomethican but I’m certain it’s my jaw, pain came back after years of not having it after going to dentist and having a filling which I think was left to high, had it shaved down since but no help. I also have a mucous retention cyst in my maxillary sinus but been told they are asymptomatic, I don’t really know what to do. Jaw Botox is one option but I’m not sure if that might make things worse.
